[gvttc general] GVTTC - Classic League Tryouts - Final Update

Hello everyone,

 

Next Tuesday night we will have our first week of classic league tryouts.
This year we have 32 people trying out which is the most I have ever had.
Last year we had 22 so it is nice to see the competition to get into this
league growing.  Due to the amount of people we have trying out this year, I
am granting a few "byes" for those that played in the classic league last
year.  They will play in week 2 along with those that advance from week 1.

Format:

-          I will have 5 groups of 5 players. 

-          Each group will play in a round robin format so you will be
playing a total of 4 matches.  

-          Each match will be best of 5 games.  

-          The top 2 players from each group will advance to week 2 and join
those on bye.

-          Each group will have 1 table assigned and will share another
table with another group.  to play on so all 8 tables will be in use.  

-          There will be a total of 12 players (3 from each group) advancing
to the second week of tryouts which is next week.

 

Play:

-          Play will begin SHARP at 6:30 PM.  Please come early to practice
and warm up.

-          If you are late and you have a scheduled match, that match will
be forfeited to keep play continuous. 

-          2 minute warmup before each match to ensure we have continues
play.

-          If you come to practice and you see a table is in use by others
that are not trying out, you have priority to take that table as this is
your night to tryout.

 

** I would like to ask that we stick to what the above.  We have 25 people,
sharing tables between groups and a lot of matches to get through.  Showing
up on time and the 2 minute warmup is very important to ensure we finish in
a timely manner. **

 

 

Rest of Club:

If you come to practice on Tuesday, please allow these folks to either hit
with you, or give up your table if you see them waiting for a table.  I will
be using all 8 tables for this tournament.
