Tom has always been a class act and gentleman. He’s a fierce competitor and I know his fight with cancer was met with the same toughness.
Personally, during his time as an active GVTTC Classic League player, he was someone that you measured your game against. Unless you could handle heavy, strong, and spinny forehand loops and great side blocks …. you became a victim of Tom Wood! His chops were always very awkward to handle as well. His smile would lull you to sleep while he dissected you one point at a time. I truly enjoyed playing him and will miss those matches. He would visit us for some of our tournaments as a spectator as recent as our last tourney and it made me happy to have him cheer for me.
GOD speed to this wonderful man and hope his family knows how much he will be missed.

For those of you who may not have known Tom, he played Table Tennis in Rochester supporting GVTTC and coaching players for over 40 years. He has been fighting cancer for the past few years. Tom continued to play and coach others right up to a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, his fight is coming to an end. He's currently in hospice unable to get out of bed or communicate.

While everyone's support is appreciated in this trying time Tom's wife has informed me that he will not be receiving visitors. Your prayers would be greatly appreciated.
