[gvttc general] GVTTC - Tryouts this Tuesday - PLEASE READ

Hello everyone,

 

Next Tuesday night, September 8th, we will have our classic league tryouts.
Typically I run a 2 week tryout period.  This year we have a low
participation count based on everything going on in this world so I am going
to change it this year and only run ONE week for tryouts.  That means, you
advance this Tuesday, you are in.  We have a total of 12 players registered
to tryout (I typically have 20-30 in prior years to give you an idea).  As
of right now I have anywhere from 5-7 spots open.  I plan on having that
final number by Tuesday.

 

Here are the final list of participants that will be competing:  (If I
missed anyone please let me know and email me directly)

Format (Subject to Change)

I am going to have 4 groups of 4.

Each group will play in a round robin format.

Each match will be best of 5 games.

Each group will have 2 assigned tables.  I plan on using 6 of the 8 tables
assigned.  The extra 2 tables can be used for practice for everyone else.  

** Depending on how many spots we have, I may take top 2 spots and third
place goes on to play more matches.  I have done this before in the past.
Plan on playing at least 3 matches.  You may play a couple more depending on
how I format this.

 

Play

Play will begin SHARP at 6:30 PM.  Please come early to practice and warm
up.

There will be an order of play.  If you are late and you have a scheduled
match, that match will be forfeited to keep play continuous.

Before your scheduled match, please keep to a 2 minute warmup before
starting your match.

If you come to practice and you see a table is in use by others that are not
trying out, you have priority to take that table as this is your night to
tryout.

 

Additional rules to respect others:

Based on the current state with COVID we are going to ask the following.

Please wear your mask entering the Rochester Sports Garden and keep it on if
you are not playing.

You can take your mask off if you are scheduled to play.

Please do not switch sides between games.

Please do not retrieve your ball if it goes into another playing area.
Allow other players to send it back for you.

 

Finally:

RSG requires we all register a free account on their website.  If you have
already done this and received a keytag, you are good.  If not, please visit
the link below, register, and when you arrive this Tuesday, please visit the
front desk at RSG and tell them you registered online so they can give you a
keytag.  This is now required moving forward with RSG.
