[gvttc general] Monday League 2021 Schedule and Teams

Hello Ping Pong People of Rochester,
Welcome to the 2021 Monday League!!

I'm excited to welcome the new members to our league and happy to see some of our "Old Timers" back from prior sessions. My goal for the league is.....One: To have fun and enjoy the game. TWO: Improve your game..... and with that I'm going to ask players who can help others with their game..... Do so. We are extremely fortunate to have some very knowledgeable and skilled players in our club. With some hard work and willingness to learn you can one day be a better player. All talk more about this tomorrow before we start league play. I will also handout the attached to everyone.

Attached is the schedule and the teams for our season. I'll be giving everyone a 3-Pack of Nittaku balls tomorrow. This is the ball that is required to be used for league play. BECAUSE of COVID.... YOU HAVE TO WEAR A MASK WHILE IN THE RSG. THE ONE EXCEPTION IS WHEN YOU ARE AT THE TABLE PLAYING. You can remove your mask if you would like then. Open Play is from 5pm to 6:15pm. League play starts at 6:30. All players must be in the building by 7:15 PM for team matches. All players who are NOT in the building by 7:15 PM may default their peer match at their opponent's discretion. After that, all matches will be defaulted by 7:45 PM, at the opponent's discretion.

I will briefly go over the rules prior to starting league play. One thing to be aware of... and...  for some reason is still a problem......people wearing a white shirt..... DO NOT WEAR A WHITE SHIRT or a shirt with a lot of WHITE on it. .  The reason is the ball is white and it can be hard to see for your opponent. If you do wear a white shirt your opponent can if they want take a Win by default.  Another rule that many people question is the "LET" rule.  The below is also from our website.

  *   Let Rule - A ball rolling behind you during a point is not a let. It may be a reason to wait before beginning a point. If the ball behind you is truly distracting, your opponent can offer you a let but it is their decision to honor the let or not. If a ball rolls between you and the table during a point, that is considered a let and the point should be played over. A ball or adjacent player that interferes with your ability to play the shot is a let. A let may not be called after the point has been played. Seeing a ball off to the side of a table is not a let. If a ball hits you during a point, that is a let.
