In an attempt to continue to “Grow The Club” through our youth, we are looking at expanding the Classic League from 12 to 14 teams (from 36 to 42 players) this year. This will allow the club to add up to 6 Juniors at the clubs discretion any given year without taking away any adult earned spot. These juniors will be considered “On The Bubble” for Classic League but not necessarily worthy the moment they get in. Not all 6 Junior spots will necessarily be used from year to year which will allow more adults to qualify through the tryout process in those cases. For example, this year is looking like we’ll only ask 4 juniors which means 2 more adults would make the classic league with this add-on process. We’re still working out logistics which includes the complicated programming that goes into scheduling and statistics but so far so good. One expectation we will set for these juniors is that they must commit to a certain number of trainings with one of our GVTTC coaches (Koen or Dustin) to further ensure their accelerated performance. We take this expectation serious with all juniors that are invited to Classic League.<br/>

It is CRITICAL that GVTTC continues to invest in our youth as every other club does across USA. They are the future of the sport here in Rochester, NY.<br/>

In our past, our club didn’t add more players to accommodate this process, instead, previous classic league directors made that decision which, in turn, removed an Adult spot that would normally make it through the tryout process. Although this caused some political challenge, in the end, the junior that was allowed in accelerated much faster because of the quality of competition. Some notable players that fall in the category of being invited in while a junior are DJ Colt, Andre Maronian, Dustin Zemaitis, Alex Bateman, Casey McClaren and Koen Kron. There are many more but the historical data shows that even though those players may not have qualified through the tryout process while a junior, they accelerated MUCH faster while in the league making this decision worth it. In my case, I wouldn’t have qualified for the Classic League when I was 16 through the tryout process (at least I don’t think I would have), but, by the end of that classic league season I was a mid to top 3 man and finished above those that needed to tryout the next season.<br/>

The GOOD NEWS …. we’re not removing any normal positions to do this, instead, we’re adding more. The entire board has agreed to this and it’s a GO for this season as long as we can get the programming to work out.<br/>

What does this mean for most? Probably MORE tryout positions for the Classic League so definitely sign up and you may be competing with the top players in Rochester. This year is incredibly exciting as we’ve been able to attract back some top players that have taken some time off for one reason or another but the battle for Classic League will be fierce this season!<br/>

Anyway, I wanted to give you all the heads up and encourage you to respond to Marc’s email if you intend to put your name in the mix for making the infamous Classic League.<br/>
