セミナー：　CJKV 日中韓越情報処理

あの「フグ本」の著者、Ken Lunde氏によるシリコンバレー講演を法政大学東京
キャンパスで同時生中継！

今回のJTPA セミナーには、ソフトウェアの日本語化に携わる技術者に必須のバ
イブル「日本語情報処理」の著者でありAdobe Systems, Inc.でSr. Computer
ScientistのKen Lunde氏をお招きします。（スピーカーのバイオは末尾をご参照
下さい）

その表紙の絵から「フグ本」と呼ばれる「日本語情報処理」の１９９３年の出版
は、コンピュータの世界ではまだまだ英語しか考慮されていなかったといっても
過言ではなかった当時、日本語情報処理の歴史上画期的な事件でした。その続編
「CJKV日中韓越情報処理」では、日本語に加え中国語、韓国語、ベトナム語をコ
ンピュータで処理する方法についてが包括的に解説され、マルチバイト言語処理
の教科書として世界中の技術者に広く利用されています。（注１）

講演では、マルチバイト言語処理のイロハに加え、中国政府によりサポートが義
務付けられ、最近話題になっているGB18030-2000（注２）のトピックをカバーし
ます。
既に重要な市場である日本に加え、巨大市場への成長が期待される中国、韓国、
ベトナムにおいて言語処理はアプリケーションビジネス参入障壁の一つとなって

Speaker Bio

Ken Lunde

Ken Lunde was born in 1965 in Madison, Wisconsin, grew up in Mount
Horeb, Wisconsin, and entered the University of Wisconsin-Madison in
1985 as a freshman. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
linguistics in 1987. He received his Master of Arts degree in
linguistics in 1988. He finally received his Doctor of Philosophy degree
in linguistics in 1994, and his dissertation was entitled "Prescriptive
Kanji Simplification." He joined Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1991, and
is currently Senior Computer Scientist, CJKV Type Development.

CJKV Information Processing (O'Reilly) December 1998
This definitive guide tackles difficult issues faced when dealing with
complex Asian languages -- Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese --
in the context of computing or Internet services. It contains revised
information from Ken Lunde's first book, Understanding Japanese
Information Processing, as well as coverage of three additional
languages and how they impact Internet resources such as the Web, HTML,
XML, Java, and Adobe Acrobat.
Adobe Acrobat product CD, starting from Version 5, has included Chapter
1 of this book in PDF from the English editions. The Japanese and
Chinese ones were included in Acrobat 6.0 and later.

Understanding Japanese Information Processing (O'Reilly) September 1993
This book provides detailed information on all aspects of handling
Japanese text on computer systems. It covers everything from the origins
of modern-day Japanese to the latest information on specific emerging
computer encoding standards. Appendices provide additional reference
material: a code conversion table, character set tables, mapping tables,
an extensive list of software sources, a glossary, and more.
