*What is Learn and Earn?*

Learn and Earn is a $4.5 million collaborative effort of Three Rivers
Workforce Investment Board (3RWIB), the City of Pittsburgh, and Allegheny
County to deliver paid summer work experience to young men and women
through a 6-week, three-tiered program.

In 2015, Learn and Earn employed nearly 2,000 young people, partnered with
nearly 300 employers, and returned more than $1.3 million in wages to the
local economy.

*What are the dates of Learn and Earn 2016?*

Young people will work from June 27, 2016, through August 5, 2016. In the
week prior to the start of the summer jobs (June 20 ? June 24, 2016), youth
will be provided with orientation and work-readiness training.

*What are the pay rates?*

Youth in Tiers 1 and 2 will be paid $7.25/hour and may work as many as 25
hours per week, 5 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Prior to worksite
placement, Tiers 1 and 2 youth will receive 12 hours of work-readiness
training paid at $6/hour. Tier 3 interns will be paid $8.50/hour and may
work as many as 20 hours per week. Tier 3 youth will receive a total of 24
hours of work-readiness training paid at $8.50/hour prior to worksite
placement and throughout program.

*Who can apply?*

City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County residents who will be at least 14,
and no older than 21, as of June 27, 2016, and who meet income and other
eligibility requirements.

*What kinds of jobs may be available?*

The internships will be concentrated in 14 career tracks based on the
growing or trending occupations in the Pittsburgh area: Customer Service;
Education; Community Development (Government and Non-profit); Health Care;
Human Services; Information Technology; Insurance; Park Management; Public
Works; Recreation; Public Safety; Labor/Trades; Financial/Banking/Legal;
and Marketing. Daily worksite tasks will vary based on the youth's selected
career/occupation track and tier placement.

*When and where can I apply?*

*The application period will open April 19.* 3RWIB is offering an online
application process through which applicants can apply via computer, tablet
or smartphone and can securely upload required eligibility documents to
their application profile.
